The Filipino Music and Arts Association of Canada Inc, (FMAACI) is a non-profit organization based in Winnipeg, MB, whose aim is to explore and develop unique and creative approaches in the preservation, promotion and blending of Filipino music and arts in the multicultural environment of Canada.
To explore, preserve, promote, and creatively blend Filipino music and arts within the multicultural environment of Canada, fostering cultural pride, community engagement, and artistic expression among Filipino Canadians and our diverse community.
A vibrant and inclusive Canadian society where Filipino music and arts are celebrated, shared, and integrated into the cultural mosaic, enriching the lives of individuals and communities through creativity, heritage, and collaboration.
To promote traditional and contemporary Filipino music, dance, visual arts, and literature to preserve cultural identity.
To organize events, workshops, and festivals that bring together diverse communities to celebrate Filipino heritage and multiculturalism.
To support Filipino artists and musicians in Canada through mentorship, performance opportunities, and collaborative projects.
To facilitate learning about Filipino culture and history, including Indigenous connections
and intercultural dialogue.
To create inclusive spaces for seniors, youth, and newcomers to participate in arts-based programs that foster wellness and belonging.
To collaborate with local organizations, schools, and cultural institutions to expand the reach and impact of Filipino arts in Canada.
Treaty 1 Land Acknowledgment
We acknowledge that we live, work, and create on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis Nation.
As Filipino Canadians, we recognize the deep and enduring relationships that Indigenous Peoples have with this land. We honor their stewardship, resilience, and cultural richness.
We also pay tribute to our own ancestors who journeyed across oceans to build new lives in Canada, and we express gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples who continue to welcome immigrants with generosity and respect.
Through music, arts, and shared stories, we strive to blend the vibrant heritage of the Filipino community with the diverse and multicultural fabric of Canada, in the spirit of reconciliation, unity, and mutual respect.
Pagkilala sa Lupang Saklaw ng Treaty 1
Kinikilala namin na kami ay naninirahan, nagtatrabaho, at lumilikha sa Lupang Saklaw ng Treaty 1, ang tradisyunal na teritoryo ng mga Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, at Dene at ang Inang Bayan ng Red River Métis Nation.
Bilang mga Pilipinong naninirahan sa Canada, kinikilala namin ang malalim at patuloy na ugnayan ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan sa lupang ito. Iginagalang namin ang kanilang pangangalaga, katatagan, at mayamang kultura.
Ipinapaabot din namin ang aming paggalang sa mga ninuno nating Pilipino na tumawid sa karagatan upang bumuo ng bagong buhay sa Canada, at taos-puso kaming nagpapasalamat sa mga Katutubong Mamamayan na patuloy na tumatanggap sa mga imigrante nang may bukas na puso at paggalang.
Sa pamamagitan ng musika, sining, at pagbabahagi ng mga kwento, layunin naming pag-isahin ang makulay na pamana ng kulturang Pilipino sa masiglang multikultural na lipunan ng Canada, sa diwa ng pagkakaisa, pagkilala, at paggalang sa isa’t isa.
